Silver Alert canceled for 83-year-old man reported missing out of Gaston County

A Silver Alert was canceled Saturday for William Millard Stamey, 83, of Kelly Road in Mount Holly. He was located and is safe, Gaston County police said.

Stamey was reported missing the day before after leaving his home in a red 2021 GMC Canyon Elevation four-door pickup truck.

The truck has a North Carolina license plate JER-1792.

A traffic camera showed the truck heading south on Highway 21 near Gold Hill Road outside Fort Mill at 3:22 p.m.
