Silver Dollar City to unveil new Fire in the Hole indoor coaster after $30M investment

Silver Dollar City announced this week that they will rebuild a fan-favorite ride into the largest indoor coaster in the Heartland.

Opening in the spring of 2024, the new "Fire in the Hole" indoor coaster will anchor the newly incorporated Fire District, home to Station No. 3 firehouse and a collection of family-friendly attractions.

The $30 million investment, announced just ten months ago, represents the park's most significant investment in a single attraction to date with further developments hinted to come in the next five years.

It also brings a piece of the past into the new era by replacing the original 51-year-old indoor coaster which opened in 1972.

Silver Dollar City, located in Branson, Missouri, celebrates the 1880s frontier and regional heritage.

What to know about the new 'Fire in the Hole' roller coaster

According to a press release, the new ride will continue the previous iteration's themes, where a mining town in the Ozark Mountains faces a fire set by notorious vigilantes called the Baldknobbers.

"Fire in the Hole" is pegged to be a state-of-the-art indoor coaster offering a powered incline, gravity descent, drops, and splash-landing, all within a four-story building.

Brad Thomas, president of the Silver Dollar City Company, said in a press release that the ride's renovations symbolize the park's strategic growth plan, offering families a chance to create lasting memories together.

To capitalize on this addition, Silver Dollar City has also announced a special pre-sale for the 2024 season pass. From Oct. 9-31, visitors can purchase season passes at the lowest prices of the season, with the added perk of early line access to "Fire in the Hole" when it opens in the spring.
