Simone Biles Becomes Youngest Medal of Freedom Recipient

Athlete Simone Biles was among more than a dozen people awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Joe Biden on Thursday, July 7, at the White House.

Biles, age 25, is not only one of the most decorated American gymnasts in history, with seven Olympic medals under her belt, she is also the youngest recipient of the presidential medal.

According to the White House, Biles is “a prominent advocate for athletes’ mental health and safety, children in the foster care system, and victims of sexual assault.”
