Simu Liu has recently commented on inclusivity and diversity in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming “Barbie” movie.

The Marvel actor told Vanity Fair at the Unforgettable Gala last month that the live-action project highlights a diverse cast of various backgrounds.

“Barbie” will feature three different Barbies – played by Margot Robbie, Issa Rae and Hari Nef – and three different Kens – played by Liu, Ryan Gosling and Ncuti Gatwa.

The movie will also feature stars such as America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Michael Cera, Emerald Fennell, Emma Mackey, Rhea Perlman and Will Ferrell.

On working with a diverse cast, Liu shared that he “was never isolated.”

“I felt like I was going to work every day with a cast that really celebrated each other and celebrated each other’s differences, no matter where we came from. I think when you watch the movie, you’ll see that reflected on the screen.”

Liu also told Vanity Fair that the upcoming film is about self love and looking inwards, saying, “It’s really about finding your inner beauty and owning that part of yourself and being the best possible version of you.”

“Barbie” is set to hit theaters on July 21.
