U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced the National Science Foundation’s $650,000 grant to Sinclair Community College to support the aviation maintenance training program. With this new injection of funding, Brown and the granting organization hopes to train more students to meet aerospace industry needs.

“We unleash more American innovation when we nurture Ohio talent,” Brown said. “This award will help Sinclair Community College students prepare for careers at good-paying, skilled jobs, and continue Ohio’s leadership in innovation.”

The grant follows Brown’s previous co-sponsorship of the Supporting Early Career Researchers Act that established a two-year pilot program with the National Science Foundation.

The act awarded grants to highly qualified, early-career investigators at independent, higher education research institutions for up to two-years, the spokesperson for the senator’s office said.

“This will help prevent research talent loss due to job market disruptions caused by the pandemic,” the spokesperson informed.
