Singapore President Halimah Yacob to attend King Charles III's coronation in London

She will be in London from 4 to 7 May, and will also meet with her Vietnam and Fiji counterparts

SINGAPORE — President Halimah Yacob will be attending the coronation of King Charles III in London from Thursday to Sunday (4 to 7 May).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a press statement on Wednesday that Halimah will be accompanied by her husband and officials from the President's Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During her stay, she will hold separate meetings with Vietnam President Vo Van Thuong, and Fiji President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere. She will also attend a reception for Singaporeans living in Britain, according to MFA.

During Halimah's absence, Eddie Teo, chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers, will perform the duties of the Office of the President.

Britain's first coronation in 70 years to take place

Buckingham Palace has stated that over 2,200 people, including heads of state, foreign ministers, and royal representatives, are expected to attend Britain's first coronation in 70 years.

Westminster Abbey, the central London church, will host the coronation on Saturday. King Charles' second wife, Camilla, will be crowned queen alongside him.

Around 7,000 armed forces personnel will participate in the ceremonial duties during the coronation, including a fly-past by military aircraft.
