ASHEVILLE - A driver died after an early morning March 20 single-vehicle crash in South Asheville, Asheville police say.

Scott Luis Blanc Jr., 38, died after his Honda, driving south on Ferncliff Park Drive, ran off the road and hit a tree, according to a news release.

Asheville Police Department patrol officers responded to the scene, near the 230 block of Ferncliff Park Drive, around 12:18 a.m., according to the release.

Blanc died at the scene, the release says.

"Speed is suspected to be a contributing factor in the collision," it adds.
