Single-day record: Maryland surpasses 2K new coronavirus cases

For the first time since the pandemic started, Maryland surpassed 2,000 new coronavirus cases in a single day. It's also the 11th consecutive day of more than 1,000 new cases reported in a day, the longest streak since the pandemic began. According to Maryland Department of Health data released Saturday morning, the state recorded 2,321 new cases for a total of 164,090 cases to date. The positivity rate also increased to 6.16%.
