Single-engine plane crashes while landing at North Perry Airport in South Broward
No one was injured when a single-engine plane crashed Tuesday afternoon at North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines, officials say.
The small aircraft had a “nose gear issue” during landing shortly before 1 p.m., said Arlene Satchell, a spokeswoman for the Broward County Aviation Department. The pilot, who was the only occupant, wasn’t injured, she noted.
“The FAA’s Flight Standards District Office is expected to investigate this incident as per normal protocols,” Satchell said.
North Perry Airport has seen a few planes takeoff and later crash this year.
Last month, an instructor and a passenger were killed after a plane trying to takeoff crashed at North Perry. A third occupant was also injured.
In late May, a small banner plane crashed at North Perry. Firefighters had to remove the trapped pilot and take him to the hospital.
And a week earlier, a pilot died after a banner plane that took off from the same airport crashed near a Hollywood shopping center.
