Sep. 12—A busy East Anchorage intersection could be closed through Wednesday for repairs to a large sinkhole, authorities say.

The northbound lanes of Bragaw Street and the eastbound lanes of DeBarr Road were closed Tuesday morning as crews got to work excavating around the hole, which measured approximately 6 feet by 20 feet.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the road to collapse in that area.

The repairs could take up to two days, Anchorage police said in a traffic alert Monday night. Drivers should expect road closures during that time.
