Sioux Falls man wanted for assault on law enforcement arrested after pursuit

A man wanted for ramming a Minnehaha County Sheriff Deputy a day before was arrested, following a pursuit Wednesday, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Russell Boyle, 50, of Sioux Falls, was arrested at about 4 p.m. in Lincoln County after the pursuit ended with his vehicle getting spiked and driving off the road, according to a post on the law enforcement agency's Facebook page.

Lincoln County deputies suspected Boyle was armed and dangerous, according to the post.

The pursuit started after undercover Minnehaha County Deputies located the Boyle in Lincoln County near the Harrisburg exit.

While pursuing Boyle, law enforcement successfully spiked his vehicle. The pursuit continued northbound on Interstate 29 for several miles before Boyle crossed back and forth over the median and traveled northbound in the southbound lane on Interstate 29.

During this time, troopers attempted a PIT maneuver several times to end the chase. As the pursuit traveled northbound, the Sioux Falls Police Department got involved to help slow the traffic flow on the interstates, according to the post.

Boyle eventually drove off road on the Interstate 229 southbound off ramp, attempted to drive through a fence and got stuck. Law enforcement successfully took him into custody without incident.

Boyle was booked into the Minnehaha County Jail by the South Dakota Highway Patrol on charges of aggravated assault on law enforcement, aggravated eluding, intentional damage to property, possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, no driver’s license and no seatbelt, according to the post.

No law enforcement officers were injured during the pursuit and arrest of Boyle.
