Sioux Falls, Vermillion men identified as victims of Tuesday crash near Fort Randall Casino

Jul. 9—LAKE ANDES, S.D. — A Sioux falls man and a Vermillion man have been identified as the two victims in a Tuesday afternoon crash near Fort Randall Casino.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol on Saturday named Charles Selwyn, 29, of Sioux Falls, and David Struckman-Johnson, 73, Vermillion, as those who died in the crash.

Shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday, authorities in Charles Mix County were called to South Dakota Highway 46, approximately one mile west of Fort Randall Casino, for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2006 Ford Five Hundred, driven by Selwyn, was westbound on South Dakota Highway 46 when he lost control in rainy conditions.

The vehicle went into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2017 Subaru Forester, which was driven by Struckman-Johnson.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither vehicle had any passengers.

Struckman-Johnson was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and seat belt use is under investigation regarding Selwyn.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
