NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It’s Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and that means it’s time to let the good times roll!

As people across the Greater New Orleans area start grabbing king cakes and heading to the parade route, getting a drink with friends might also be on the agenda for some.

Restaurants and bars have started preparing for the season with carnival-inspired drinks and food items.

Whether you’re looking to shake –or stir– up your Mardi Gras plans, WGNO has concocted a list of bars and restaurants in the Greater New Orleans area serving carnival-inspired cocktails.

Restaurant R’evolution

This French Quarter restaurant at The Royal Sonesta New Orleans is offering a variety of carnival-inspired cocktails made with fresh ingredients and vibrant colors including:

  • Traffic Was Crazy! made with Patron Blanco Tequila, mint, pineapple, cilantro, jalapeño and Tajin

  • Michael, Stipe it! made with Bacardi Rum, blood orange, lemon, vanilla, soda and mint

  • I Can See For Miles made with Grey Goose Vodka, tea, carrot and coconut

  • Rebirth Margarita made with tequila, mezcal, Cointreau, house-made grenadine and beets

  • Feelin’ Supersonic made with The Botanist Gin, grapefruit, lemon, orange, Cinchona, Gentian and soda

  • Goodnight, Gracie! made with root beer, Herbsaint and vanilla whipped cream

Justine

This New Orleans brasserie is serving-up a Mardi Gras-inspired cocktail called the Boozy Muse. According to a release, the Boozy Muse uses gin, basil, aloe, dry vermouth, absinthe, lime and sugar to make a cocktail “suitable for a full day on your feet celebrating in the French Quarter.”

Brennan’s

Brennan’s is shaking up a special carnival cocktail menu all season long including:

  • Province Prince which features Brennan’s Barrel Select Oxbow Rum, Licor 43, passion fruit and sparkling wine

  • Honey Bees made with The Botanist Gin, butterfly pea tea infused Brennan’s honey and lemon

  • Ducky made with blanco tequila, curacao, coconut cream and lime

  • Leviathan made with Vodka, pineapple, matcha syrup and lime

  • Whoppa made with Sangiovese Red Wine, Aperol, Pomegranate, Cognac and lemon

  • King of Carnival made with W. L. Weller Special Reserve Bourbon, Amaro and Campari

  • Queen of Orleans made with Empress Gin, fresh lime juice, jalapeno simple syrup and soda

  • King Cake Martini made with Stolichanya Vodka, Chila Horchata, Butterscotch Schnapps, cream and a Mardi Gras sugar rim

The Bower

The Bower is serving up a variety of Mardi Gras-inspired cocktails and a special caffeinated cocktail menu to “give guests a little giddy-up before the parades.” The Mardi Gras menu will include:

  • Carnival Negroni made with house-made glittered Campari, gin and vermouth

  • St. Charles Sour made with house-infused peach bourbon, lemon, Aquafaba and red wine float

  • Mobile Mardi Gras made with spiced rum, chocolate vegan soft serve and “Mardi Gras magic”

  • Tropical Storm served frozen and made with silver rum, hibiscus, tropical fruit and edible glitter

Some of the caffeinated cocktails will include a Chai Chai made with redemption rye, house chai syrup and bitters and an Espresso Martini made with Birdy’s cold brew, vanilla vodka, and Kahlua. For more information, visit The Bower website.

Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans

The Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans is offering two Mardi Gras cocktails this season. The first is a Caribbean Queen described as a “Carnival meets Colada” served with a king cake pop bite at the restaurant Miss River.
