Sisk lifts Coventry boys soccer

Oct. 14—The Coventry High boys soccer team has been streaky all season. The Patriots want the one they're on to continue.

Steven Sisk scored with 27 minutes left on Wednesday to lift Coventry to a 1-0 NCCC win over Rockville, a victory that gives the Patriots a Class S state tournament bid.

The Patriots (7-3-0) opened the season with four wins, lost their next three, but have won three in a row.

Stanley Strycharz assisted on Sisk's goal for Coventry (7-3-0). Goalie Justin Foran made five saves to make it stand up. Abdullah Chaudhry recorded eight saves for Rockville (2-6-2).

Both teams are on the road Friday. The Patriots visit Granby while the Rams travel to Windsor Locks.

SUFFIELD 6, STAFFORD 1. At Ted Beneski Field, Dan Robb had two goals and an assist in Suffield's NCCC win.

Nick Van Cott added a goal and an assist for the Wildcats (9-1-0), who have won five straight. Anderson Burrows, Ryan Sunshine, and Will Auchy chipped in a goal each. Goalies Craig Gnatek and Timmy Galica combined for nine saves. Auguste Latrille scored for the Bulldogs (1-6-1). Michael Myron made eight saves.

Suffield is at SMSA Friday, the same day Stafford travels to Somers.

ELLINGTON 1, BOLTON 0. In Ellington, Nick Elsass' goal late in the first half was enough as the Knights earned the NCCC win.

James O'Connor's free kick went to Eric Thibert, who found Elsass for the goal as Ellington (8-1-0) won its third straight game overall and stayed perfect in eight conference games.

Trevor Buchanan, had 10 saves in goal for Bolton (5-4-2), which hosts East Windsor Friday. Ellington entertains East Granby the same day.

SOMERS 6, WINDSOR LOCKS 1. In Windsor Locks, Joe Burzynski and Patrick Brown scored two goals each in Somers' NCCC win.

Tommy Lafayette and Jon Benedict added a goal each for the Spartans (7-3-0), who led 4-0 at halftime. Goalies Owen Argiro and Jesse Martello combined for nine saves. The win clinched a berth in the Class S state tournament for Somers.

Austin Thompson scored for Windsor Locks (1-7-0). Caden Mackey and Ryan Martineau combined for 14 saves in the Raiders' net.

Windsor Locks hosts Rockville Friday, the same day Somers entertains Stafford.

GRANBY 8, EAST WINDSOR 0. In East Windsor, Justin Burkhart scored two goals in Granby's NCCC win.

Russell Brown, Eli Dehner, Kevin Jones, Chas Orluk, Chase Alexander, and Steven Peterson added a goal each for the Bears (6-3-0).

East Windsor (5-5-0) is at Bolton Friday.
