Sisseton man, 41, died in Wednesday's fatal crash northeast of Summit

A Sisseton man has been identified as the person who died late Wednesday night in a one-vehicle crash northeast of Summit.

Preliminary crash information indicates that Shayne Cook, 42, was driving a 2008 Buick Lucerne westbound on 127th Street when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway, went into the ditch and rolled, according to a news release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

Cook was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release. The crash was 14 miles northwest of Summit at 11:16 p.m.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
