Get Out!: Sister Hazel, LOLO performing this weekend

The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center will host Sister Hazel on Saturday.

Sister Hazel is a band that made its name nationally with the 1997 pop smash hit “All for You,” that started a string of hits for them for the remainder of the decade and into the 2000s including “Happy,” “Change Your Mind” and “Champagne High.”

In recent years, the band has transitioned to country music, releasing the album “Lighter in the Dark” in 2016.

Their follow-up album “Water” did well in 2018, which was the same year the band made their debut on the Grand Ol’ Opry.

Sister Hazel’s performance is the latest in this season’s string of concerts at the venue in Downtown Huntingdon.

A few seats remain open for sale, and tickets range from $25 to $35. They can be ordered online at dixiepac.net.

Here’s a rundown of other things going on around the region this weekend:

Friday

Reelfoot Eagle Festival: This is a family-friendly weekend to explore Reelfoot Lake. There are 40 nesting resident eagles, and they have been seeing up to 70 eagles a day in recent weeks. All festival events will be held at Reelfoot Lake State Park Visitors’ Center (2595 State Highway 21 East in Tiptonville). Tours start at 10 a.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Rockabilly Residency: Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter LOLO (Lauren Pritchard) continues her concert series celebrating her hometown’s Rockabilly roots with the release of her new album, “X” in December, which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Blues Chart.

Distributed by New York City’s No Reverse Records, “X” is a moment where listeners get to hear LOLO’s truest colors. The Rockabilly Residency will feature LOLO’s dynamic live band joined by horn and string sections at Hub City Brewing (250 West Main Street in Downtown Jackson) at 6 p.m.

Friday’s show is the second for the residency with one more show planned on Feb. 11. Single show tickets are $25 or $35 for both shows.

Saturday

Mardi Gras and Casino Gala: St. Mary’s School and Sacred Heart of Jesus High School will have their annual fundraiser at 6 p.m. at the Carl Perkins Civic Center (400 South Highland Avenue in Downtown Jackson).
