Good morning – again – from Sharon Coolidge.

Former Cincinnati City Councilman P.G. Sittenfeld is set to be sentenced Tuesday at 1 p.m. on federal corruption charges, surely to be one of the biggest moments in Cincinnati city history. Having covered City Hall since 2014 and talking to Sittenfeld for most of the days all the way up until his November 2020 arrest, it’s difficult not to think of this as a sliding door moment for Cincinnati.

On one side, Sittenfeld could have been mayor before he was caught, arrested and convicted. Today, instead, Aftab Pureval is in the midst of his four-year mayoral term. The city is in a different place as a result.
