Polish farmers continue to block the Ukrainian-Polish border, 2.450 trucks are queued as of the morning of Feb. 22, Ukrinform reported, citing the spokesman of the State Security Service Andriy Demchenko, noting that there has been a significant decrease in the BCPs number for freight vehicles with situation nearly critical near Yahodyn and Shehyni BCPs.

"The blockade of freight vehicles goes on… [at] Yahodyn, Ustyluh, Uhryniv, Rava-Ruska, Shehyni, and Krakivets. Our Polish colleagues report a total of 2.450 trucks in queue to cross the border to our country in all six locations on the Polish territory. The longest queues are in front of Krakivets, Yahodyn, and Rava-Ruska," said Demchenko.

"For example, only 60 trucks crossed the border in Shehyni yesterday — 40 to Ukraine and 20 to Poland. 70 trucks crossed the border towards Ukraine in Yahodyn, and not a single truck crossed the border towards Poland,” Demchenko added.

“Polish farmers do not let a single truck passing through Yahodyn from Ukraine to Poland. Several trucks are allowed to go in all directions, both to Ukraine, and to Poland. It cannot be called heavy traffic, however."

Other categories of transport traffic are not blocked yet, including passenger cars and buses, the spokesperson said.

It is to be noted that it is extremely difficult for trucks and carriers to find detours, as documents can be issued and tied to a specific customs office. But if there is an opportunity, according to the spokesman, it is better to use alternative routes through other countries.

Bigger queues are currently observed at the border between Slovakia and Hungary.

"If we take the statistics, as of this morning, there is a queue of about 500 cargo vehicles on the territory of Slovakia in front of our Uzhhorod BCP, and about 800 trucks are waiting for the opportunity to cross the border towards our country on the territory of Hungary, in the area of the Tisza checkpoint," noted Demchenko, adding that there is no blocking here and the traffic is in line with the capacity of the checkpoints.
