AURORA – A 2,200-square-foot, six-bedroom, one-story addition with a covered porch is being proposed by AM & K Realty LLC for the Kensington Care Center at Anna Maria at 849 N. Aurora Road.

Plans were unveiled to the city’s planning commission June 15, and the panel accepted them for study. The addition would be on the west side of the existing building. The entire Anna Maria campus measures 40.13 acres and is in the M-1 mixing-use zoning district.

The site is surrounded by a nursing home to the east, single-family homes to the north and south and vacant land to the west.

Planning-zoning-building director Denise Januska said improvement plans and a stormwater plan have been submitted, and the owner is seeking preliminary and final site plan approval.

In other matters at the brief meeting, panelists forwarded to City Council a positive recommendation for amendments to Chapter 1327.06 of the zoning code regarding contractor registration revocations and the appeals process.

The regulations establish a 30-day deadline for a contractor to request an appeal hearing if registration is revoked. Proposed language added is as follows:

“The filing of an appeal shall not stay the suspension. In response to the filing of an appeal, the city shall hold a hearing on said suspension within 10 days of the filing of the appeal unless said time limit is extended due to exigent circumstances.”

The following language would be eliminated: “An appeal shall stay implementation of the notice until the board has ruled.”

Items pending on the panel’s agenda are preliminary and final site plans for Renaissance Park at Geauga Lake East Phases 2 and 3 (north of Treat Road) and a final site plan for JW Congregation Support Inc. (Jehovah Witnesses Kingdom Hall across from Aurora Farms Premium Outlets).
