Six charged in connection with human trafficking and prostitution in New Hanover County

With assistance from the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, the Coastal Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force charged six people for allegedly being connected to prostitution crimes in the area.

According to a news release from the sheriff's office, a six-month investigation involved more than 150 victims. Charges were related to criminal activity of Cape Fear Escorts/Entertainers. They would recruit victims by promising them thousands of dollars for dancing but would have them engage in commercial sex and made money from it, according to the release.

All of the incidents took place in New Hanover County.

  • Christopher Todd Evans was charged with 166 felonies related to human trafficking and narcotics violations - bond set at $3.75 million.

  • Christopher Slate Arrowood was charged with 80 felony counts of promotion and profiting from prostitution - bond set at $750,000.

  • Chandler David Anderson was charged with 66 felony counts of promotion and profiting from prostitution.

  • Dustin Lee Anderson was charged with 16 felony counts of promotion and profiting from prostitution - bond set at $65,000.

  • Michael Hunter Snow was charged with 6 felony counts of promotion and profiting from prostitution - bond set at $50,000.

  • Jesse Earl Bright was charged with 4 felony counts of promotion and profiting from prostitution - bond set at $60,000.

The investigation is ongoing through the work of the task force. Participants consist of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, Onslow County Sheriff's Office, Jacksonville Police Department, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Homeland Security Investigations, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, North Carolina Probation and was assisted by the Durham Police Department.
