Six Flags Great Adventure to hire hundreds for annual 'Fright Fest'
You want scary? Try searching for hundreds of workers in the middle of a labor shortage to staff your elaborate haunted house.
That's the task for Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson.
The amusement park will host a series of hiring events beginning Saturday to find more than 200 actors, makeup artists, technicians and costume workers for its annual Fright Fest. Pay for the positions ranges from $13 to $18 an hour.
Billed as the Northeast's Largest Halloween party, Fright Fest is scheduled to begin Sept. 16 and run on select days through Oct. 31.
First up: The company will have auditions for scare actors and ghouls July 30 at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and again on July 31 at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
It will have hiring events for all positions Aug. 5 and Aug. 6 at 5:30 p.m. and Aug. 12 and Aug. 13, also at 5:30 p.m.

The company is ramping up its hiring as it faces a tight labor force. New Jersey's unemployment rate was 3.9% in June compared with 7.1% the same time last year.
It is searching for:
Scare actors and ghouls do deliver scares. Candidates must be at least 16 years old.
Makeup artists. Candidates must be at least 18.
Greeters and ambassadors. Candidates must be at least 16.
Technicians to assist with lighting, sound and special effects. Candidates must be at least 18.
Costume helpers to coordinate and organize actors' costumes. Candidates must be at least 18.
