Six Flags Great Adventure to reopen today after Friday’s power outage

JACKSON− Power was restored to Six Flags Great Adventure about 1:30 a.m. today, clearing the way for the amusement park to reopen at 10:30 a.m., a park spokeswoman said.

The park was closed Friday due to a power outage.

Utility crews worked throughout Friday morning to solve the problem, but Six Flags tweeted later in the day that Great Adventure was closed for the day and expected to reopen Saturday.

Hurricane Harbor and Wild Safari, which are a short distance from the park, remained in operation Friday, park spokeswoman Kristin Fitzgerald said.

Chris Hoenig, spokesman for JCP&L, said the outage appeared to be a problem with park-owned equipment.

"JCP&L crews have found no fault in our equipment out there," he said.

Fitzgerald said theme park tickets for Friday were being honored at the water park. And Six Flags offered Wild Safari free to guests onsite.

Theme park tickets for Friday will also be accepted through Labor Day and Six Flags will refund any date-specific theme park admission plan, like THE FLASH Pass, she said.

Updates will be posted on the Six Flags Great Adventure website and on Twitter, Fitzgerald said.
