Six food distributions set for December

The South Michigan Food Bank has announced upcoming distribution dates and times.

The South Michigan Food Bank has planned six food distribution events in St. Joseph County for December.

The food bank, in cooperation with St. Joseph County United Way, the Sturgis Area Community Foundation and the Michigan Health Endowment Fund, will give away supplemental boxes of food starting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Centreville Seventh Day Adventist Church, 23683 M-86, in Centreville. A free ride is available to and from the distribution is available through the St. Joseph County Transportation Authority as time and capacity permits. A 24-hour notice is required and can be made by calling 269-273-7808.

The First Presbyterian Church, 1320 S. Lakeview Ave., in Sturgis, will host a food giveaway starting at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14. The Huss Project, 1008 Eighth St., in Three Rivers, will distribute food at 9 a.m. Dec. 16, while Gateway Village Apartments at 409 Gateway Ct. in Sturgis will give away food boxes at 10:30 a.m. Dec.21.

At 4:30 p.m. Dec. 21, those in need of food may stop at Colon High School, 400 Dallas St. The final distribution of the month is set for 3:30 p.m. Dec. 26, at White Pigeon Middle/High School, 410 Prairie Ave., in White Pigeon.
