Six homeless after blaze causes $175,000 damage to 5-bedroom house at 1635 Farlin Ave., Green Bay

GREEN BAY - A fire Saturday night damaged an east side home, leaving six people temporarily homeless.

Two people were treated for smoke inhalation after the 9:10 p.m. blaze at 1635 Farlin Ave.

The fire began in an upstairs bedroom; smoke and flames were visible from the upstairs window and roof when firefighters arrived. Occupants had evacuated, and firefighters had brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes, said Green Bay Metro Fire Battalion Chief Tony Piontek.

Piontek estimated damage to the five-bedroom house at $175,000.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Green Bay Metro Fire Marshal's Office.

American Red Cross Volunteers are assisting the residents of the house.
