Six more incumbents file for re-election to the Livingston County Board

LIVINGSTON COUNTY — Six more incumbents on the Livingston County Board of Commissioners are running for re-election.

The commissioners filed Dec. 20 with the Livingston County Clerk’s Election Bureau. For the first time, electees will serve four years, twice as long as before.

Here's who, so far, has filed to run for the board:

District One

Doug Helzerman, a Republican, filed for re-election Dec. 20. Helzerman is the incumbent District One commissioner. He's a resident of Fowlerville. No other candidates have filed to run for the seat yet.

District Two

No candidates have filed to run for the seat yet. Dave Domas, a Republican, is the incumbent District Two commissioner and board chair. A request for comment to Domas was not immediately returned.

District Three

Frank Sample, a Republican, filed for re-election on Dec. 20. Sample is the incumbent District Three commissioner. He's a resident of Pinckney.

Pamela Bethune, a Democrat, is also running for the seat. Bethune filed Dec. 11. She's a resident of Pinckney.

District Four

Wes Nakagiri, a Republican, filed for re-election Dec. 4. Nakagiri is the incumbent District Four commissioner. He's a resident of Hartland.

Ella Nikitin, a Democrat, is also running for the seat. Nikitin filed to run in September. Nikitin, a Hartland resident, is the first openly trans woman to seek office in Livingston County.

District Five

Jay Drick filed for re-election Dec. 20. Drick, a Republican, is the incumbent District Five commissioner and vice chair. He's a resident of Howell. No other candidates have filed to run for the seat yet.

District Six

Roger Deaton, a Republican, filed for re-election Dec. 20. Deaton is the incumbent District Six commissioner. He's a resident of Howell. No other candidates have filed to run for the seat yet.

District Seven

No candidates have filed to run for the seat yet. Martin Smith is the incumbent District Seven commissioner. Smith, a Republican, confirmed to The Daily he intends to run again.

District Eight

Nick Fiani, a Republican, filed for re-election Dec. 20. Fiani is the incumbent District Eight commissioner. He's a resident of Howell.

Elizabeth Hauptman, a Democrat, has also filed to run for the seat. Hauptman is a resident of Brighton.

District Nine

Jerome Gross, a Republican, filed for re-election Dec. 20. Gross is the incumbent District Nine commissioner. He's a resident of Brighton. George Earhart, a South Lyon resident, withdrew his filing Dec. 12.
