Six Newton boys earn all-conference soccer recognition
Jun. 15—The Newton boys' soccer team scored the fourth most goals and points in the Little Hawkeye Conference this season.
That links up right with the Cardinals' final place in the standings and six Newton players were placed on the all-conference squad for their efforts.
Leading the way as first-team selections were juniors Christian Lawson, Nate Lampe and Caleb Mattes. Junior Hunter Teague was a second-team choice at goalie and juniors Cody Klein and Jesus Murillo were the honorable mention picks.
Dallas Center-Grimes won the conference title with a 7-0 record. Norwalk was the runner-up at 6-1 and Newton, Pella and Indianola all finished 4-3.
