Six Monroe County high schools celebrate homecoming this week

Homecoming celebrations are taking place this week at Monroe, Jefferson, Flat Rock, Mason, Summerfield and Carlson high schools. Here are the announcements of dances, theme days and homecoming courts:

Monroe High School

“Neon” is this year’s homecoming theme at Monroe High School.

Kicking-off the week on Sunday was a new homecoming event. Seniors had a chance to purchase and paint parking spaces.

Daily dress themes and activities have been set. Today’s theme is “Grandparents.” Bottle flipping will take place during lunch. Tuesday’s theme is “Teen Beach Movie.” Wii Baseball will be played at lunch. Wednesday’s theme is “Construction.” Food Court will be offered during lunch. Thursday’s theme is “’80s and ‘90s throwback.” Cornhole will be played at lunch. Friday is class color day. Seniors will wear hot pink; juniors, electric blue; sophomores, yellow, and freshmen, orange. Wii Tennis will be played during lunch.

A pep assembly is set for Friday. The Powder Puff football game will be played at 7 p.m. Wednesday on the football field.

The parade will begin at 5 p.m. Friday. It will begin on Fifth St., near Monroe Middle School, and end at the Knights of Columbus hall. A tailgate event for students and staff will take place at MHS immediately following the parade.

The football team will play Dexter High School at 7 p.m. on the football field. The homecoming court will be crowned at half-time.

Homecoming Queen candidates are: Colette Charnock, Tess Eshenroder, Ava Funk, Tillie Henderson, Amber Miletti, Julia Puruleski, Brynn Reece and Lexi Schade.

Homecoming King candidates are: Gaige Carr, Caleb Lowden, Daniel Rhoades, Kellen Roberts, Drew Scznsny, Jude Stamper, Gabe Sweat and Elijah Yeamen.

The homecoming dance will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the high school.

Jefferson High School

“It’s a Time Warp at JHS” is this year’s homecoming theme at Jefferson High School.

The football team will play Milan High School at 7 p.m. Friday.

Daily dress theme are: Today, “Go Back to Bedtime” (wear pajamas); Tuesday, “Flash Forward to Your Senior Citizen Years”; Wednesday, “Future or Past: Be the Parent or the Toddler”; Thursday, “Throwback Thursday” (wear clothes from the 1980s), and Friday, “Vintage Blue and Gold Day.”

The homeroom with the highest percentage of students participating in the dress up will receive a treat.

A pep rally and the parade will take place Friday. The parade will begin at 5:45 p.m. at Sodt Elementary School. The parade will go east on Nadeau, north of N. Dixie Hwy., west on N. Stony Creek Rd. and end at the Jefferson Recreation Center.

“Bear fans may line the parade route to catch a heap of candy and a glimpse of the Jefferson Bear, our own marching band, the homecoming Court, the Frenchtown firefighters and much more,” the school said.

The homecoming court includes class representatives: Freshman Chloe Sterling; Sophomore Lauryn St. Bernard, and Junior Clare Boggs.

Senior Queen candidates are: Jilliann Baker, Rylee Dunn, Ellie Hintz. Samara LiparotoOlivia Peare and Austin Williams.

The dance will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the school cafeteria. Tickets are $15.

Flat Rock High School

Flat Rock High School has set several activities for homecoming week.

Assemblies will take place during school hours Tuesday and Friday.

The Powder Puff football game and bonfire will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The game will begin immediately after the middle school football game. After Powder Puff, the crowd will walk to the side of the school for the bonfire.

Bobean’s Mini-Parade is set for 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday. The homecoming parade will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday. The FHS football team will play its game at 7 p.m. Friday. The homecoming dance will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Mason High School

Mason High School, Erie, has the homecoming theme “Decades.”

Mason will play Adrian Madison at 7 p.m. Friday at the Mason. Homecoming royalty and the homecoming queen will be crowned during halftime.

The senior court includes Kaylie Bash, Laci Ellis, Ava Konrad, Emily Worden and Cameron Zaleski.

The junior representative is Abbigail England; sophomore is Brianna Raymond, and freshmen is Riley England.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. Friday and run from the elementary school parking lot to the football field. Participating will be the high school band, homecoming royalty, class floats and middle school sports teams.

The homecoming dance will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the high school.

Summerfield High School

This year’s homecoming theme is “Holidays.”

Dress days have been set. Today is "Adam Sandler Day," baggy clothing and baseball hats will be worn. Tuesday is "Twin Day." Wednesday is "Holiday Day," students will dress like their class holiday. Thursday is "Class Color Day." Freshmen will wear tie-dyed; sophomores, red; juniors, black, and seniors, green. Friday is "Orange and Black Day."

Hallways will be decorated Tuesday. A pep rally is planned for Friday.

Summerfield High School will play Sand Creek at 7 p.m. Friday at the high school. Homecoming representees will be escorted onto the field by their parents at half-time.

Representatives are: Freshmen Riliegh Grady and Ethan Jacob; Sophomores Mia Miller and Eli VanHuysen; Juniors Ruby Baugher and Logan Keane, and Seniors Abby Stevens, Addison Ciacelli, Megan Pease, Mason Hall, Dakota Kohn and Bryce Kalb.

A Powder Puff game will be played at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The parade will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the elementary school. The parade will end at the playground, where a bonfire will take place. Teams and homecoming representatives will be announced.

The formal dance will take place from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Carlson High School

Carlson High School’s homecoming theme is “The Four Season.”

The football team will play its homecoming football game against Taylor High School at 7 p.m. Friday. The parade will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at the Gibraltar Community Center; it was travel down S. Gibraltar Rd. to the school.

The dance will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday in the school gym.

Homecoming King candidates are: Cameron Bendelow, Niklas Etling, Brandon Scheffler, Timothy Simons, and Landen Turner

Homecoming Queen candidates are: Kayla Aranki, Isabella Bienko, Kaydin Fowler, Siya Patel, and Olivia Tocco.
