After six seasons, Comedy Central cancels ‘Drunk History’

The future is sober for Comedy Central’s “Drunk History.”

The sixth season of the network’s popular satire series will be its last.

The Daily News has learned that the show, which began in 2007 as a “Funny or Die” online series before briefly jumping to HBO and then moving to Comedy Central in 2013, will not return to production and finish season seven which was the last season picked up.

The Emmy Award-winning, Derek Waters-created comedy – featuring an inebriated stand-up comic describing historical events, while the scenarios are reenacted by celebs in period era regalia – has earned 17 Emmy nominations, including three Emmy Awards this year, one for best variety sketch series.
