Six Walgreens pharmacies in Boise, Treasure Valley are closed. Here’s why

Multiple Walgreens pharmacies in the Treasure Valley are temporarily closed as a result of staffing shortages.

While the stores themselves remain open, the national chain’s Boise pharmacies on South Broadway Avenue, South Five Mile Road and West Ustick Road are closed. A Meridian Walgreens pharmacy, on East Fairview Avenue; a Nampa pharmacy, on Caldwell Boulevard; one in Emmett, on West Highway 52; and one in Ontario, Oregon, are also “temporarily closed,” according to the company’s website.

The company said labor shortages have caused the closures.

“In communities impacted by staffing shortages, we have adjusted hours of operation with the goal of creating minimal disruption for customers and patients,” said Kris Lathan, a spokesperson for Walgreens, in a Friday email. “In such instances, we will direct customers to other nearby Walgreens locations for prescription needs, care and support.”

Lathan also said that patients or customers with medication-related questions could talk to a pharmacist in an online video chat available on the Walgreens website and app.

In recent months, major businesses have had to temporarily close stores or curtail hours because of ongoing labor shortages.
