Sixers match Joel Embiid’s $100,000 donation to combat homelessness

With the All-Star break officially here, there is time to pay attention to other more important matters in the world at the moment. The world is still dealing with the hardships of the global pandemic and times are tough for most right now.
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has announced that he will donate his winnings from Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game to Philadelphia homeless shelters, including Project HOME, Sunday Breakfast Mission, and Youth Service INC. In total Embiid has committed $100,000 across these organizations.
“So many have fallen on such hard times during the pandemic,” Embiid said via a team press release. “I felt it was important to provide more support for individuals and families struggling with homelessness and food insecurity. I’m continually grateful for all of the support that Philadelphia and the fans have given me not just around All-Star but all my years in the league. I will continue to help in any way I can.”
On top of that, the Sixers organization will also match Embiid’s donation with a $100,000 donation of their own.
The #Sixers, led by Josh Harris and David Blitzer, are also donating $100,000 across Project HOME, Sunday Breakfast Mission and Youth Service Inc. in addition to Joel Embiid’s $100,000 donation.

This is a great moment for the big fella and the team as a whole. There are a lot of people who need help during this time and Embiid and the Sixers are taking on the challenge of helping others during this time.
