Sixers stars Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons find out who they play for in ASG

Philadelphia 76ers stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons already know they will be heading to Atlanta for the All-Star game on Sunday at State Farm Arena, but they now know who they will be playing for in the game.

The NBA scrapped the East vs. West concept starting with the 2018 All-Star game when the top vote-getters in each conference being team captain and they pick their teams like at the playground. This year’s captains are LeBron James out West and Kevin Durant in the East and on Thursday, they held their All-Star draft for the game on Sunday.

Embiid and Simmons have found out that who they will be playing for as Embiid will play for Team Durant in the game. Sixers coach Doc Rivers will be coaching Team Durant in the game so he will have direct control or how many minutes Embiid will play.

Simmons will be playing for Team LeBron and playing for Utah Jazz coach Quin Snyder.

The Sixers are heading into the All-Star break with the best record in the Eastern Conference and it is mostly due to the elite play of Simmons and Embiid. Rivers and the rest of the team would like to have those two healthy and ready to go for the second half of the season beginning on March 11 against the Chicago Bulls.
