Here's what to know about the Sixth Region boys basketball tournament that will tip off Tuesday:

* Tuesday’s quarterfinals (at district champions): Fairdale (22-9) at Butler (22-8), 7 p.m.; Moore (13-18) at Jeffersontown (14-12), 7 p.m.; Fern Creek (12-16) at Evangel Christian (28-4), 7 p.m.; DeSales (19-11) at Pleasure Ridge Park (23-5), 7 p.m.

* Saturday’s semifinals (at Valley): Fairdale-Butler winner vs. Moore-Jeffersontown winner, noon; Fern Creek-Evangel Christian winner vs. DeSales-Pleasure Ridge Park winner, 1:30 p.m.

* Tuesday, March 7 final (at Valley): 7 p.m.

* Past five champions: Jeffersontown (2022); Bullitt East (2021); Fern Creek (2020, 2018); Butler (2019).

* Notes: Evangel Christian got its first-ever victory in the Sixth Region Tournament last year and now is one of the favorites to win this year’s title. The Eagles captured the All “A” Classic state title earlier this season. … Evangel Christian’s 6-foot-11 Cyr Malonga, an East Carolina University signee, ranks third in the state in field-goal shooting (71.2%). DeSales’ 6-8 Crew Gibson ranks eighth at 67.5%. … Moore, under interim coach Pat McGee, is in the regional tournament for the first time since 2019. … The Sixth Region champion will face the Eighth Region champion at 11 a.m. on March 15 in the first round of the UK Healthcare Boys Sweet 16 at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
