The flavors of Houston have arrived in Lubbock with the opening of a new, sizzling restaurant operated by a Snyder man.

Fajita Pete's, 7604 Milwaukee Ave. Suite 100, opened last week. Over the weeks leading up to opening day, Sean Humphrey, manager, offered free fajita plates in social media drawings to help train staff.

"We would pick 10 in the morning and the evening, just to have our employees get some practice," Humphrey said. "I'd say it went pretty well, we' haven't had one bad review."

While the company is well known for their beef fajitas and made-fresh-daily guacamole, Humphrey stated a customer favorite has been the shrimp fajitas and chicken flautas.

"We've had lots of orders for shrimp fajitas, and we're selling lots of shrimp," he said. "My favorite things on the menu would be the chicken flautas and chicken fajitas."

Fajita Pete's also offers to-go margaritas in 20-ounce, half-gallon and gallon containers. Flavors include original, mango and strawberry, and flavors can be combined.

Family meals are another big seller for the restaurant, specifically the La Familia, which feeds 5-6 people.

"I tell our employees to make it like you would serve your family, and that's exactly what we are trying to do," Humphrey said.

Humphrey said he hopes to see more Fajita Pete's locations open across West Texas, but is taking the franchising one day at a time. People can find the restaurant on Facebook, Instagram and at fajitapetes.com.

The restaurant is looking to hire for several front-of-house positions, which will also involve deliveries. People can apply online.
