Skaters Rescued After Ice Breaks on Lake in The Hague

Dozens of skaters had to be rescued from a frozen lake in The Hague, Netherlands, after the ice collapsed on Friday, February 12, local media reported.

As numerous skaters were enjoying the frozen Hofvijver lake, the ice melted in places and began to collapse. Officials told many skaters to wait on the island in the middle of the water to be rescued, AD.nl reported.

AD said 10 to 15 people were rescued from the island by the fire brigade, while others were fished out of the side of the lake by onlookers and police officers.
