Skating event to prompt road closures and bus changes Saturday morning in Grand Forks

Aug. 19—GRAND FORKS — An inline skating event will prompt street closures and city bus detours Saturday in Grand Forks.

The Rollin' on the River Inline Marathon and Half Marathon begins at 7 a.m. at two locations: Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks and Central Valley School near Buxton, N.D.

According to a release from the city of Grand Forks, the route will use a combination of roads, city streets and Greenway trails. Vehicles will not be allowed on the course during the race. The race will impact traffic in Grand Forks from 13th Avenue South to 62nd Avenue South and from South Columbia Road to Belmont Road. There will be a controlled crossing at 24th Avenue South; the city says that will be the best way to get to Lincoln Golf Course.

The following bus stops will not be served during the event: 20th and Cherry; 24th and Cherry; 28th and Cherry; Kelly-Schroeder; Tufte Manor; Good Will; Cherry Street Townhomes; 40th and Cherry; Choice Health and Fitness.

The race will conclude around 10 a.m., at which time things will return to normal.
