UPDATE: Skeletal remains found in Springfield identified, linked to cold case

4/16 UPDATE: Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon identified the remains belonged to Michelle Bianco, in a news release his office sent out Tuesday.

The coroner said the official cause and manner of death is under investigation by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office and the Sangamon County Coroner.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Skeletal remains were found at a house in Springfield.

Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell confirmed the skeletal remains were found Monday afternoon at a Springfield residence on East South Grand Avenue near South Wheeler Avenue.

Officers with the Sangamon County’s Sheriff Office visited the residence for personal items connected to a cold case Sunday, Campbell said.

According to a 2016 Sangamon/Menard County Crime Stoppers web post, Michelle Bianco was last seen at a residence on the same block on April 5, 2008.

When visiting Monday, law enforcement found the remains. Campbell could not confirm if the remains were connected to the case.

Campbell said the remains have not been removed from the residence yet.
