Jay man allegedly admitted he shot and buried missing Milton woman

The discovery of human remains on Saturday in Jay has led to the arrest of 53-year-old Jeffrey Bostwick.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's deputies received a tip on Friday that a Milton woman was missing for several months and was believed to have been killed by Bostwick.

"The reports given stated that the resident was killed at the 2900 block of Cobbtown Road in Jay and that the suspect had numerous firearms," the release says. "Later that day, deputies obtained a search warrant for the residence and discovered multiple firearms in possession of the suspect, an individual known to be a convicted felon."

On Saturday, investigators found a grave behind Bostwick's mother's home that contained the skeletal remains of a single person.

An arrest report reveals that Bostwick allegedly told another person he shot his friend Christina Uribe and buried her three months ago.

In a sworn audio statement, the witness reportedly stated that Bostwick told them "that Christina would never come back and that he shot her and buried her."

Sometime between September and October 2023, the report says Bostwick's mother took Uribe to the house when they both got into "a disturbance." Later that day Uribe had a black eye.

"(The witness) asked Christina what happened, and she stated that Jeff hit her and pointed a shotgun at her but fired it in the air above her," the report says. "(The witness) stated that a day or two later, Christina went back to Jeff's house and (they) stopped hearing from her three to four weeks later."

Bostwick told deputies that Uribe left with someone between October and November and stopped returning his messages.

He also said he was being set up and they never had any physical altercations.

After deputies found Uribe's body buried next to a trail behind his mother's house, Bostwick said he would tell the truth if they left his mother out of the investigation, the report said.

Bostwick told deputies someone dropped Uribe off at his home on Nov. 3, 2023, before they went out to his work shed.

"A few hours later while he and Christina were in the shed, Christina grabbed a 9-millimeter handgun and pointed it at him out of nowhere," Bostwick claimed, according to the report. "Jeff stated that Christina was crying and mouthed something under her breath but didn't know what she said."

Bostwick said he told Uribe to put the gun down but she refused and continued to walk toward him. What he said next is redacted, but after the next unredacted section of the report says that Uribe was dead.

"I asked Jeff why he continued to message Christina on Facebook after Nov. 3, 2023, when he knew she was dead and he buried her," the report says.

Bostwick's answer is redacted.

Bostwick is charged with first-degree felony murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
