Skelton honored by MPHS

Grant Skelton of Mount Pulaski, son of Todd Skelton and Ashley and Chad Kern, has been named April-Senior-of-the-month at Mount Pulaski High School.

He was selected for this honor based on the criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Skelton has stayed actively involved in extracurricular activities during his time at MPHS. He has participated in FCCLA for four years, Track and Science Olympiad for three years, and Academic Challenge, E-Sports, and Soccer for one year.

He has been on High Honor Roll all four years of high school and was awarded the Pre-Calculus student of the year award. He has also been named as an Illinois State Scholar and is a member for the Liftoff Scholarship program.

Outside of school Skelton has worked at Gro Alliance and worked German Fest for St. Thomas Aquinas.

He plans to attend Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and plans to study Medical Chemistry.

The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored by Conaway Handyman Service and Downing, Przykopanski, Clements, & May Insurance Agency, Inc.. They are also in the running for the $500 Senior-of-the-Year award sponsored by INB.
