The first weekend of Coachella 2023 featured a “chaotic” set from Frank Ocean that had fans scratching their heads trying to understand what the heck was going on.

Following the negative (and confused) response regarding his set on social media and in the press, Ocean dropped out of his appearance for the second weekend of Coachella. Immediately after this was officially announced, music fans started to speculate who would replace him as the Sunday headliner of the festival.

Now, Coachella has announced that Skrillex, Fred Again.., and Four Tet will join the lineup of performers for Sunday weekend two. In the meantime, Blink-182 (who was previously already set to perform at the festival) has been bumped up to replace Ocean in the headlining spot of Sunday night.

While it’s a shame that ticketholders won’t see Ocean as a headliner, there wasn’t much else to do after the artist decided to drop out of the festival.

This isn’t the first time that Coachella has had to deal with a last-minute replacement for the festival. With that said, replacing Ocean between weekends one and two was certainly even more of a last-minute decision than the festival has faced in the past.

In 2017, Beyoncé was slated to headline Coachella but had to drop out of the festival due to getting unexpectedly pregnant. At the time, Lady Gaga was chosen as the replacement headliner. Alas, Beyoncé did fulfill her duties a year later, giving fans the history-making 2018 “Beychella” set that ultimately became the Netflix concert film titled Homecoming.

It’s a bummer that weekend-two Coachella attendees won’t get to watch Frank Ocean on the main stage, but at least Bad Bunny and Blackpink have remained as headliners for their Friday and Saturday night sets!
