Paratrooper injured after landing on a hangar at Palatka Municipal Airport, firefighters say

A paratrooper is injured after landing on top of a hangar at Palatka Municipal Airport, firefighters said.

The Putnam County Fire Rescue Local 3529 union posted on its Facebook page that Engine 2, Technical Rescue 2, Rescue 85, and Battalion 11 are responding.

Action News Jax is at the scene working to learn more information.

It has been reported that a group of active duty and retired military personnel were practicing paratrooping to keep their skills sharp.

During the exercise, the wind reportedly shifted which caused one of the paratroopers to hit a building at Palatka Municipal Airport.

Reportedly the victim was suffering non-life-threatening injuries and has been transported to the nearest hospital.
