“I’m so thrilled to be joining Slate to make new Death, Sex & Money episodes,” said Anna Sale, host of Death, Sex & Money. “At a time of so much change in podcasting, I was really attracted to Slate’s long track record of growing and taking care of listeners. It’s a wonderful new home to both pick up where we left off and try new things to meet this moment.”

“We are thrilled that Death, Sex & Money will be joining Slate’s podcast network,” said CEO Dan Check. “Not only am I personally a fan of the show and Anna’s work, but it is a perfect fit for Slate’s listeners, who come to us every day for engaging, revealing, and often, personal discussions about the topics most affecting their everyday lives.”

Death, Sex & Money is an interview podcast about “the things we think about a lot, and need to talk about more” founded at WNYC Studios, home to some of the industry’s most-critically acclaimed and longest-running podcasts including Radiolab and On the Media. Since 2014, creator and host Anna Sale has interviewed people you’ve heard of – including Jane Fonda, Bill Withers, Sonia Sotomayor, Madeleine Albright, Mahershala Ali, Kevin Bacon, Ellen Burstyn, Gloria Steinem and many more – and people you haven’t, about things in life we all go through but can still make us feel isolated or alone. The show features intimate conversations that don’t skip over the hard things that shape our lives, including topics such as infidelity, masculinity, estrangement, and close encounters with death.

Death, Sex & Money is the perfect addition to our ever-growing network of shows,” said Vice President of Slate Audio Alicia Montgomery. “Both teams are driven to explore the complicated issues that animate our lives with intelligence, candor, humor, and compassion. We’re delighted to welcome Death, Sex & Money, and its talented team and dedicated community of listeners to Slate.”

“We are proud that Death, Sex & Money was incubated, launched, and blossomed at WNYC Studios,” said LaFontaine E. Oliver, President and CEO, New York Public Radio, which includes WNYC Studios. “Anna was one of the first women to host a podcast in an industry that just 10 years ago was still overwhelmingly male-dominated. In the years since, through her inclusive vision, the show has evolved into a community where boldfaced names, listeners, and people of all backgrounds get to share their stories and have a voice. We are glad we were able to secure a new home for the show at Slate, where it will continue to serve audiences and build common ground.”

Death, Sex & Money topped the Apple podcast chart when it launched and was named an iTunes Best Podcast of the Year in 2014. New York Magazine named the show the best podcast of the year in 2015, host Anna Sale won a Gracie Award for best podcast host in 2016, and the Webbys awarded Death, Sex & Money Best Interview/Talk Show” in 2018.
