SLCPD cracks down on Jordan River Trail, making 54 arrests and seizing over 1,000 fentanyl pills

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Salt Lake City Police conducted a sweep of the Jordan River Trail earlier this month, cracking down on drug dealers, traffickers, and buyers in the area, according to a press release.

The multi-day “drug interdiction mission” resulted in 54 arrests and the seizure of more than 1,000 fentanyl pills, according to SLCPD.

Increased patrol along the trail began in October 2023, in an effort to address and prevent criminal activity. The area included South Temple to 400 North and 1500 West to 900 West. SLCPD officers reportedly conducted daily patrols.

The department quickly recognized that the issues required a “multi-disciplinary” approach, and coordinated with city, regional, and state agencies to address community concerns.
