Slight Increase in COVID-19 cases in San Joaquin County

COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths are slightly increasing in San Joaquin County, according to the county's public health department. ”We are currently surging again. Our case rates are going up and we now have a case rate of about 22 per 100,000," said Dr. Maggie Park, the county's public health officer told KCRA 3 on Thursday. "Though it sounds high, that's actually a huge undercount. Because as you may know, that's only a count for people who are doing PCR tests." The Larch Clover Community Center in Tracy is a newly opened COVID-19 testing and treatment site, one of three in San Joaquin County, Park said. At these test-to-treat sites, patients who test positive for COVID-19 will visit with a physician virtually, and may leave with anti-viral medication to prevent hospitalization.
