This fall, the American heavy metal band Slipknot is performing in Springfield for its "Knotfest Roadshow" tour.

Slipknot, along with Ice Nine Kills, a heavy metal band, and Crown the Empire, a metalcore band, will take the stage at Great Southern Bank Arena on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The show begins at 7 p.m.

The tour begins in Nashville and will conclude in Irvine, California in October.

Slipknot was formed in a Des Moines, Iowa basement in 1995 by Shawn "Clown" Crahan, late Paul Gray and late Joey Jordison. Today, the band is made up of nine members.

Slipknot members are recognizable for their masks, which have evolved over the last 27 years. According to Louder, an alternative music website part of "Classic Rock" magazine's franchise, the members' masks change with each album. Popular styles have been inspired by gas and hockey masks and featured leather and dreadlocks.
