Slipknot releases brutal new single 'Solway Firth' from upcoming album

Slipknot has released a new song ahead of the band's upcoming album, set to drop on Aug. 9.

"Solway Firth," a new single from the upcoming album "We Are Not Your Kind," lives up to Corey Taylor's promise to the Des Moines Register in February that the new album was going to be "evil" and a "pretty dark ride."

This new song features brutal, back-to-roots songwriting for the Iowa metal band. The guitars chug with scarcely a clear melody to be found from the verse to chorus.

The video for "Solway Firth" also features footage from the new Amazon show "The Boys," a gritty, violent show about a team looking of non-super-powered men looking to take down a corrupt team of the world's most powerful superheroes.

The first song from their new album, "Unsainted," was released in May and gave a nod to Des Moines as their longtime hometown.
