Slippery Noodle is 21 and over under new ownership

After years of being a family-friendly music establishment, downtown's Slippery Noodle Inn will become a 21-and-older bar, ownership announced in a Facebook post Saturday.

Despite the fact that the bar had previously operated as an all-ages restaurant, the post said Indiana State Excise Police told them that previous ownership did not obtain the correct approvals to be an all-ages restaurant.

"We are exploring options to correct this and will update our loyal guests when we can return to a family dining venue," the post read.

Earlier this month, the Slippery Noodle Inn was sold outside longtime family ownership. Former Tiki Bob's owner Jason Amonett and local liquor executive Sean Lothridge purchased the bar from Carol Yeagy and immediately took over operations. The bar had been owned by the Yeagy family, through Carol's husband Hal, who died in 2021, for 60 years.

The Slippery Noodle Inn was a longtime hub for blues and live music in downtown Indianapolis. It claims its title as Indiana's oldest continuously operated bar at the original site, wording it that way due to a long-standing rivalry with the Knickerbocker, which obtained the first liquor license in the state.
