SLO County man injured in parachute mishap at Lompoc Airport

A San Luis Obispo County man was injured Sunday afternoon in a parachute mishap at the Lompoc Airport, according to the Lompoc Fire Department.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the airport at about 4:30 p.m. after the man was hurt during a rough landing, Lompoc fire Capt. David Boeken told Noozhawk.

The 36-year-old man, whose name was not released, suffered moderate injuries to his leg, Boeken said.

He was taken by AMR ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria. Details on his condition were not available.

A Santa Barbara County helicopter was dispatched to the incident, but was canceled.

The man was skydiving solo and was experienced, Boeken said.
