What will SLO County weather be like for Fourth of July weekend? Here’s the forecast

Sunny skies and warm temperatures are in store for San Luis Obispo County for the Fourth of July holiday weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the NWS’s seven-day forecast, SLO County will largely move out of the June gloom that has kept temperatures low as the month comes to a close.

In the city of San Luis Obispo, dense morning fog will burn off by noon Friday, the Weather Service said, resulting in a high temperature of 81 degrees Fahrenheit and winds as high as 15 miles per hour.

Saturday will be warmer still, with fog again giving way to sunlight around noon with a high of 84 degrees and light winds of up to 15 miles per hour, the NWS said.

Sunday will see temperatures cool slightly, with fog burning off by noon to reveal mostly sunny skies with a high around 78 degrees and 15-mph winds.

Monday will feature fog in the morning and a high around 78 degrees, the NWS said in its forecast.

On Tuesday, the Fourth of July, temperatures will drop slightly to a high of 73 degrees, the agency predicted.

Fog will be patchy before noon, and will likely give way to partly sunny conditions for Independence Day fun, the Weather Service said.

All week, temperatures in San Luis Obispo are forecast to drop down to the mid 50s at night, with fog returning as temperatures cool.

How hot will it get in Paso Robles?

Paso Robles will get the lion’s share of the Fourth of July holiday weekend heat, with the mercury topping 100 degrees multiple times, according to the NWS forecast.

On Friday, temperatures in the North County city could creep up to a high of 103 degrees, the Weather Service said, accompanied by sun and 20-mph winds. The temperature will drop to 61 degrees overnight.

Temperatures will rise even higher on Saturday to a peak of 104 degrees with wind gusts as high as 25 mph, the NWS said.

On Sunday, temperatures will drop slightly to a high of 101 degrees under sunny skies, with wind gusts up to 20 mph.

Temperatures are to fall lower on Monday, with a high around 92 degrees and an overnight low of 53 degrees.

Independence Day will feature favorable conditions, the Weather Service said, with a high around 85 degrees and sunny skies.

Heat advisory issued for parts of SLO County

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for inland valleys and mountains in SLO County, with the hottest temperatures expected on Saturday and Sunday.

With that comes “elevated fire weather conditions,” the agency said.

Interior valley areas including Atascadero, Lake Nacimiento, Paso Robles, San Miguel, Templeton, Carrizo Plain, Creston and Shandon will remain under the heat advisory from Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, the NWS said.

During that time, daytime temperatures between the upper 90s and 106 degrees are expected

Those areas will be under an excessive heat warning from 10 a.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Sunday, when temperatures between 100 and 111 degrees are expected, according to the NWS.

The agency advised checking on relatives and neighbors during the heat advisory. “Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances,” the agency said.

People should also stay hydrated and reduce their exposure to heat, the NWS said.

Additionally, fire ignition sources such as lawn care equipment and fireworks should be handled with care, the agency said.
