SLO residents displaced after fire whips through home

A fire whipped through a home on Buchon Street in San Luis Obispo on Friday afternoon, displacing the house’s residents.

Firefighters responded to reports of a fire in a residential building in the 1100 block of Buchon Street around 3:11 p.m., according to emergency services app PulsePoint.

The San Luis Obispo City Fire Department first received a report of smoke and fire on the porch of a home and dispatched an engine to the scene, the department tweeted.

The exterior porch fire then extended into the attic of the one-story single family residence, the fire department said

A primary search of the home found no victims inside.

By 3:52 p.m., the blaze was knocked down, the fire department said on Twitter, and no injuries were reported.

The home will be uninhabitable, the fire department said, and crews were working with the Red Cross to assist any displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
