#SidingFallout

Thirteen days after siding fell off the old Richford Hotel building on Chestnut Street downtown, the owner of a neighboring small business has no idea when he will be able to resume normal operations. Yunzhi Yan, a 23-year-old immigrant from China, is the owner and sole employee of Seasons' Noodle. On April 21, the day the siding fell amid high winds, a portion of Chestnut Street was blocked off and an official told Yan to close his Chinese restaurant. The city says it is working to get the street reopened as soon as possible did not provide a date.

His death there last week marks Rochester’s 24th homicide of 2022. On the day of the stabbing, Williams’ girlfriend, Shadarea Flemings, 29, was charged with first-degree assault. The Monroe County DA’s Office is now considering bringing additional charges against her.

#GiraffeVideo

The Seneca Park Zoo’s Masai giraffe calf, born April 29, is a male and doing well, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced late Monday afternoon. Bello also posted video of the animal trying out his new legs while his mom, Iggy, looks on. The Animals of the Savanna exhibit, where they are housed, remains closed to the public temporarily, and there is no word yet on when the calf will make his public debut.

See you Wednesday.
